Houseplants are a great way to boost your mental health. Studies show that we are healthier and less stressed when we are around plants. All of the physical effects of plants – including purifying the air and acting as natural humidifiers by releasing water vapor – translate into mental health benefits. The more oxygen we breathe, the less anxious we feel, for example. Plants also release mood-boosting chemicals.
