DETROIT — Quinn Parker Forbes is obviously overjoyed as she holds this award won by her dad Sean Forbes for Outstanding Rap Music Artist of the Year at the 2019 Detroit Music Award. This was Sean’s third DMA and first in this category, having previously won for artist and composer.
Sean, the son of Scott Forbes and Patti Parker-Forbes of Lake City, is a deaf musician and signed a record deal with Eminem’s producers. He combines rap with American Sign Language and has toured the world performing and speaking. Sean is a prolific songwriter and has writing credit on a song with Bob Dylan. He performed to a packed house at Orchestra Hall with the “Deaf and Loud Symphonic Experience in Detroit with the Detroit Symphony in December 2018.
Sean is also the grandson of Norman Parker, who currently resides and grew up in Lake City.
