ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)- Hundreds gathered at Genesee Valley Park on Saturday for the 10th annual Rochester Deaf Festival.

The event featured kids activities, a food truck, and a performance from the Heidi and Hedy Show. The festival was open to the entire public as organizers see it as an opportunity to share deaf culture with everyone.

“The reason we set up this event is [that] we really wanted to share our culture, our language, and our identity and invite the open public to come and join us and learn about our community,” signed Chad Ludwig, the festival’s founder.

“We want it [to] share and interact, so we would like them to come so we can share that with them. Also, we celebrate our culture together- that’s really important, that’s what this is all about.”
