Communication Service for the Deaf, Inc. (CSD) announced today that Maria Wilson has been promoted to Chief Legal Officer (CLO).
Based in Austin, Texas, Wilson has nearly a decade of legal experience, including accessibility, disability, contract and employment law. As CLO, Wilson is responsible for all legal and compliance matters for the CSD global organization.
“I am very pleased to announce the promotion of Maria Wilson to Chief Legal Officer,” said CSD CEO Christopher Soukup. “Maria has extensive legal experience and expertise and has been a valued member of the CSD team for nearly seven years. I am more than confident she will be an exceptional leader of our legal and compliance functions and an exemplary member of our executive management.”
Wilson first joined CSD in 2013 as a staff attorney and in 2015 she was promoted to senior attorney. Prior to CSD, she was an attorney with Bill Gordon & Associates where she served as a Social Security disability attorney representing clients in their disability hearings throughout the state of Texas.

I am very excited to be extending my work at CSD, continuing to have the opportunity to contribute to the organization’s important mission and now serving as CLO and being a part of the executive management team.”
Prior to earning a juris doctor degree at the University of Houston Law Center, Wilson graduated as a distinguished scholar and with high honors from the University of Texas at Austin where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. Ms. Wilson is a member of the State Bar of Texas and a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP). Additionally, she is a board member for the Texas School for the Deaf Foundation and corporate secretary for the CSD Social Venture Fund.
