ST. LUCIE COUNTY— A St. Lucie County man who is accused of sending threatening statements through email from prison before his release on charges related to terror-related threats is expected to be mentally evaluated before July 8.

Charlton Edward La Chase, 28, of the 7000 block of Citrus Park Boulevard in St. Lucie County, faces a threatening communications charge in relation to the emails.

Last year, La Chase pleaded guilty to two counts of transmitting threats through interstate and foreign communications, federal records state.

La Chase, who is deaf and partially blind, was released in May on probation, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff’s officials.

Federal records show that as a condition of his supervised release he wasn’t supposed to have contact with the victims from his earlier convictions.
