An advocate and mother of a deaf child says she isn’t getting any satisfaction from either of the major political parties in the province.

Kim Churchill told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly the leaders of the PC and Liberal parties are not doing enough to help deaf children in the school system.

Ches Crosbie called her last night to learn more about what her situation. She explained to him what was happening with deaf and hard of hearing children in the school system.

He responded that the number of deaf children is too small to be an election issue. She said she was left speechless.

She says that she spoke with Dwight Ball at Tuesday night’s NL Federation of Labour debate about the lack of inclusion deaf and hard of hearing children are facing in the education system.

Churchill say she is shocked by his response. Ball said he was not aware of these issues and that he was not aware of the human rights complaint made to the department of education on this issue.
