STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island’s only deaf church held its services at a new location on Sunday — with services conducted in American Sign Language (ASL) and voiced for a hearing audience.
The Hands for Christ Community Church service was held at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Tottenville — where services will be held every Sunday at 11:45 a.m.
Pastor Mary J. Bacheller, who was born to two deaf parents, founded the church in 2012. The church will celebrate its seventh year in September.
