PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) —- The Pawtucket Red Sox will partner with the Rhode Island School for the Deaf for the third annual Deaf Awareness Night at McCoy Stadium this summer, the team announced.
The PawSox plan to unveil jerseys with the team’s name spelled out in American Sign Language on June 7 when they face the Rochester Red Wings. The National Anthem will also be performed in sign language.
“We want to heighten awareness,” Proctor said. “We want to bring as many deaf and hard of hearing people in who are living in New England to the game and they can have a good time.” Curtis Pride, a former Red Sox and PawSox outfielder, will also be in attendance.
