I would love for you to consider coverage of an extraordinary event at the Intrepid Museum—Astronomy Night on Friday, September 27, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM! This is not just any night; it’s a unique opportunity to engage with NASA astronauts while enjoying the added benefit of American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for our deaf and hard of hearing visitors!
September 23 is International Day of Sign Languages, and this program highlights our ongoing efforts to make science and history accessible to everyone.
Visitors can expect an evening packed with fun and educational experiences designed to promote inclusivity and attract underrepresented communities in STEM. We aim to inspire participants about aerospace careers and foster a sense of belonging in this dynamic field.
Join us for a captivating talk by former NASA astronaut Tom Jones, who will discuss his latest book Space Shuttle Stories: Firsthand Astronaut Accounts from All 135 Missions while in conversation with former NASA astronauts Mike Massimino and Sidney Gutierrez. American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be available for the demonstration, featured speaker, telescope viewing on the flight deck, and some of the educator cart!
At the Intrepid Museum, we are committed to inclusivity, which is why ASL interpretation can be arranged for all our programs at no cost. Plus, visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families will receive priority admission!
More information on accessibility options and ASL interpretation at Intrepid Museum can be found here: https://intrepidmuseum.org/events/join-program/groups-with-disabilities.
